Bloodstain Pattern Analysis

Course Hours: 40.0 Hours

Course Description

This course is designed for personnel who investigate violent crimes. Topics include the recognition and creation of basic stain patterns, area-of-origin determinations, correlations between bloodstain pattern analysis and other forensic evidence, and the documentation of bloodstain patterns. Instructors at the National Forensic Academy facilitate this training.

All interested students must register for this course through The University of Tennessee Law Enforcement Innovation Center website (additional cost required), available in the Training Calendar | Law Enforcement Innovation Center. Once you have completed the registration through the University of Tennessee LEIC, you will then need to register with GPSTC through your student account.

 

Prerequisites

Students must register online with the University of Tennessee LEIC prior to registering with GPSTC. LEIC registration is available in the Training Calendar | Law Enforcement Innovation Center. Students should have completed Crime Scene Investigations or have equivalent knowledge of the course topics.

Who Should Attend

Investigators who are assigned to investigate violent crimes in which bloodstain evidence may be created should attend.

Special Notes

 Practical exercises may be conducted outside. Therefore, students should wear or bring climate-appropriate clothing and rain gear.
