Gang Recognition for Jailers

Course Description

This course is designed for jail officers investigating gang-related criminal activity. The topics of instruction will equip officers with skills and knowledge to recognize gang culture, gang paraphernalia, and gang members who participate in criminal activities. This course is a pre-requisite for the Gang Investigation and Prosecution Training Course.


Students attending this training must be employed by a law enforcement agency as an actively certified jail or peace officer of this state or its political subdivisions, charged with the duty of enforcing the criminal laws regarding criminal gang activity.

Who Should Attend

This course is geared towards Georgia Peace Officer Training Council (GA POST) certified officers, and/or Georgia Department of Corrections staff, who are assigned to the intake and housing of inmates.

Students attending this course should bring a laptop computer in order to view the course materials.
