EMS Dispatch Principles and Telephone CPR

Course Description
This comprehensive training program equips communications officers with the critical skills to rapidly identify cardiac arrest, confidently deliver telephone cardiopulmonary resuscitation (T-CPR) instructions, and successfully facilitate the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). Designed in strict compliance with O.C.G.A. § 35-8-23, this course ensures telecommunicators are prepared to bridge the vital gap between the initial 911 call and the arrival of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), thereby significantly increasing the patient's chance of survival.
Prerequisites
You must hold a GA POST Communications Officer certification, or have a POST-approved application currently on file, in order to attend. Additionally, active agency sponsorship is required.
Who Should Attend
This course is designed for state and local government communications officers who handle public safety information and dispatch emergency personnel. It is specifically geared toward dispatchers who are not currently EMD-certified and/or whose agencies do not use an active EMD program.
Special Notes
This course meets the state-mandated training requirements for telecommunicators outlined in O.C.G.A. § 35-8-23; it does not provide students with CPR certification.
