Crisis Response Training (CRT) for 911

Course Description

The Georgia Crisis Response Training (CRT) for 911 equips communications officers with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively to calls involving individuals in crisis. Participants will learn to define crisis situations and recognize behavioral health indicators, understand federal statutes and state laws guiding crisis response, apply de-escalation techniques to promote caller and responder safety, and appropriately handle 911 calls involving persons in crisis. Training is delivered through lectures and discussions supported by interactive media, ensuring communications officers are prepared to carry out their role in crisis preparation, intervention, and response.

Prerequisites

Priority acceptance is given to POST-certified Communications Officers employed by state and local 911/emergency communications centers, in compliance with OCGA § 35-8-23.

Federal and military emergency communications personnel based in Georgia, who are not required to be certified under OCGA § 35-8-23, may attend on a space-available, tuition-paid basis. 911 Directors not mandated to train under OCGA § 35-8-23 may also attend on a space-available basis.

Who Should Attend

All public safety communications officers are encouraged to attend.
