Instructor Training Level II Course

Course Hours: 48.0 Hours

Course Description

This course is designed for the public safety officer who instructs in performance -oriented training and is responsible for delivering advanced training. Topics will include instructor liability, research methods, needs assessment, course and lesson plan design, student engagement activities, challenging learners, and measuring and evaluating learning.  

The program meets the training criteria established by the Georgia POST Council for Level 2 Instructor certification.

Prerequisites

The prerequisites for this course are:

  1. Successful completion of the Instructor Training Level I Course
  2. Possess a minimum of three years of service in public safety or a related field
  3. Be free of ongoing investigation or probationary status with Georgia POST Council

Who Should Attend

This course should be attended by Instructor Training Level I Course graduates with a need to conduct advanced and specialized training, develop and administer tests, and teach basic and in-service course content without direct supervision.

Special Notes

This course is in high demand.  As a result, agencies are limited to one application for each scheduled course.  Applications DO NOT roll over into future classes automatically.  If an application is not approved, it is necessary to apply to future classes until the student is accepted.

Students will receive an email at least one month prior to the start of the course workshop with instructions.   This course requires a one-week period of online classroom activity be fully completed prior to attending the classroom workshop.   Students will receive links to materials to download and print prior to attending.  Dress code is business attire or a departmental issued uniform. Shorts, jeans, and t-shirts are prohibited.

Students must bring to workshop training:

  1. Laptop with Microsoft Office 2016 or newer software
  2. External storage device
  3. Completed worksheets and outlines
  4. One ream of letter-size paper
