Course Description

THIS COURSE FULFILLS THE TWO HOUR GOVERNOR'S INITIATIVE COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING TRAINING REQUIREMENT 


This course is the result of a partnership between the Georgia Public Safety Training Center and the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. This course is designed to equip public safety personnel with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively respond to opioid overdose and other substance use crises. Topics in this course include opioid abuse and misuse, substance abuse, responder self care and precautions, Naloxone administration, Five Steps Essential for First Responders, Georgia's 9-1-1 Medical Amnesty Law, and community partnerships and resources. Students will receive Naloxone upon completion of this course.

Who Should Attend

This course should be attended by any public safety personnel who may encounter persons experiencing opioid overdose.
