Basic Photography & Digital Imaging

Course Description

During this course, the student will learn the methods necessary to properly compose crime scene photographs and to manually operate a digital single-lens reflex camera. The student will accomplish this by attending lectures and completing practical exercises. Testing includes both performance and cognitive examinations.

Prerequisites

Participants must be a certified peace officer or assigned to a crime scene investigative unit. They must also bring the equipment required to complete the practical exercises and performance examinations with them on the first day of class. This required equipment consists of a digital single-lens reflex camera and lens, a photo tripod, a polarizing filter, and a camera flash that is capable of manual operation.

Who Should Attend

Law enforcement professionals who are assigned the complex tasks of photographing evidence or investigative functions should attend.
