Course Description

This course is designed to give firefighters the basic knowledge, skills and confidence needed to control and extinguish structural fires. Students will participate in firefighting drills at various stages of fire progression and will learn to recognize the various fire conditions and dangers associated with interior structural firefighting. Practical drills include a live fire demonstration of an at grade fire attack. The course is based upon performance objectives and students must complete all objectives to receive credit for the course. This course meets the live burn requirement for registered volunteer status.

Prerequisites

Persons accepted in this course must be a member of a fire department in compliance with O.C.G.A. Title 25-3-23 and must have successfully completed the Basic Volunteer Firefighter Course and tested through Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training.

Who Should Attend

Volunteer firefighters seeking Registered Volunteer Status.

Special Notes

Students must provide positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus and full structural firefighter protective clothing to include boots, coat, pants, gloves, helmet, and hood. All clothing and equipment must be in good condition and meet applicable NFPA standards. No shorts or sleeveless shirts may be worn.
