Introduction to Community Risk Reduction

Course Description

Introduction to Community Risk Reduction (CRR) is a one-day course that is intended to provide a basic understanding of Community Risk Reduction, how to evaluate the risks and hazards that exist in a community, and create successful CRR initiatives in any community.   The students will also be introduced to evaluation concepts as well as steps to creating an organizational culture that embraces CRR.

Training Outcomes

The expected outcome of this course is to augment the skills and knowledge of students to promote a change in culture for community risk reduction programs.  The benefit of students embracing this need to act will potentially result in a reduction of injuries, deaths, and property loss, thus reducing civilian fire fatalities and potentially reducing the number of Line of Duty Deaths of emergency personnel.

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Who Should Attend

The target audience for this course may include, but not be limited to the following: ?  Fire/EMS personnel with an interest in advancing risk-reduction efforts in their community, including firefighters, investigators, inspectors, educators and others. ?  Law enforcement personnel with an interest in advancing risk-reduction efforts in their community, including community relations officers, school resource officers, patrol officers and others. ?  Emergency managers.  ?    Allied health and community service personnel.

This course is a Coordinator Managed course.  Once students are selected they will receive confirmation. Applicants not selected will be invited to apply for a future offering.
