Course Description
Emergency Communication Centers are constantly evolving. New and emerging technologies, staffing issues, and increased awareness of the role of 9-1-1 in public safety present new challenges to 9-1-1 Directors throughout the country. This course will provide Georgia 9-1-1 Directors with the tools they need to lead people, manage systems, and meet local, state, and federal requirements by applying national best practices to their situations. Topics include: The Role of Emergency Communications in Georgia, Leadership Development and Professional Competence, Agency Operations Management, ECC Technology, Personnel and Human Resource Program Management, and Finance and Budget.
Prerequisites
Students must currently serve as an Emergency Communications Center director or be approved to attend by the Georgia Emergency Communications Authority. Prior to attending the course, students must provide proof of having completed the most current version of IS-100, IS-700, IS-800, and IS-1300 courses. Please visit the Federal Emergency Management website to determine the current versions. Students must also complete the Mental and Emotional Wellness course through GPSTC.
