Multidisciplinary Teams - Response to Sexual Assault

Course Description
In this highly interactive course, officers collaborate directly with advocates, SANEs, and prosecutors to foster seamless multidisciplinary teamwork and holistic victim support. The curriculum explores the neurobiology of trauma, equipping officers for trauma-informed victim interactions and offender-focused suspect interviews. Students will also build critical legal and investigative skills by learning to review SANE reports, navigate Georgia?s Sexual Assault Kit Tracking System, apply O.C.G.A. statutes, and prepare search warrants. Bridging theory and practice, student teams will investigate scenario-based incidents utilizing active role-players. The training culminates in an intensive practical exercise featuring direct and cross-examination by instructor attorneys, thoroughly preparing investigators and SANEs for future casework and courtroom testimony.
