Course Description

This course is designed to develop and evaluate officers' technical shooting skills, weapon manipulation, decision-making, and team-based tactics in close-quarters environments. Emphasis is placed on predictive versus reactive shooting, accountability for shot placement, room-clearing principles, target identification, and performance under stress.

Prerequisites

Students who attend this course must be certified and sworn law enforcement officers. Students will also be required to shoot a 70% on the GPSTC CQB Shoot-in on Day 1 to remain in the course. The GPSTC CQB Shoot-in Exam will be completed on Sunday prior to the beginning of the course. See the Course Special Notes for the Shoot-in Exam.

Who Should Attend

This course should be attended by SWAT and Patrol Officers who are highly proficient with a patrol rifle and handgun.

Special Notes

The GPSTC CQB Shoot-in Exam will be completed on Sunday prior to the beginning of the course. Students must bring 60 rounds of ammunition for both, their rifle and handgun for the pre-test. After the pre-test, ammunition will be provided in .5.56, 9mm, .40 and .45. 

Students must bring a Patrol Rifle (sighting system optional), a sling, 3 rifle magazines minimum, duty pistol (sighting system optional), minimum of 3 magazines, duty belt with minimum of 2 rifle magazines pouches and 2 pistol magazine pouches. Students will also need ear protection, eye protection, and a hat with a brim or helmet.

Shoot In: Minimum Qualifying Score: 70%
Performance Exam Minimum Qualifying Score: 80% = 320 Maximum Qualifying Score: 100% = 400
