Structural Fire Control

Course Hours: 16.0 Hours

Course Description

This course is designed to give firefighters the basic knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to control and extinguish structural fires. Students will participate in fire fighting drills at all stages of fire progress and will learn to recognize the various fire conditions and dangers associated with interior structural fire fighting. Practical drills include a live fire demonstration of fire behavior, single room drills, and multiple room drills. The course is based upon performance objectives and students must complete all objectives to receive credit for the course.

Prerequisites

Persons accepted in this course must be a member of a compliant fire department and fit the requirement defined in O.C.G.A. Title 25-4-2 (6). 

Special Notes

Students must bring with them structural firefighting personal protective equipment to include self contained breathing apparatus and extra cylinder. This class is a physically intensive course that requires a great deal of physical exertion.
